Aidan Ford looked around the office waiting room. Damn. Charlie had his own waiting room. So much for his Mom's muttering Aunt Tasha had thrown her life away and thrown away Charlie and Alanna's along with hers in LA.

"Aidan?" Charles Gunn gaped. "Damn man, haven't seen you for--what? fifteen years? What are you doing here?"

Aidan smiled uncertainly but the next thing he knew he was wrapped in a bear hug by his older cousin.

"What's up? How's Aunt Mara and Uncle Steve?"

"They're good. They're kinda why I'm here though...you got time.."

"Course. Hey, Harm,"

"What?" the blonde secretary sighed sounding rather put upon.

"Hold my calls. Anything that can't be put off get Angel to deal with."

"His Broodiness will be annoyed."

"He'll get over it. I haven't seen my baby cousin for ages"

Aidan looked around the office that Charlie led him into. Nice. Very nice. "How are Aunt Tasha and Alanna?"

Charlie's face fell. "God, that's why...social services never got in touch with Aunt Mara? Alanna and I figured we were written off after the last blow out Mom and Aunt Mara had. Aidan, mom died when I was seventeen and Alanna was thirteen. Alanna was killed by some gang members, wrong place wrong time about five years ago."

Aidan's jaw dropped in shock. "Mom wouldn't have done that Charlie. Never."

"I wouldn't have ever thought so either but what else were we to think."

"God." Aidan murmured. "Well, uh--"

"Aidan, you in trouble man?" Gunn frowned at his cousin. Something, he could'nt put a finger on it. But something.

"No...nothing like that. I'm leaving. Uh, I'm Air Force now. I'm going on a top secret mission. I won't be home for a few years. Chance maybe never coming home. But it's--Charlie ya gotta believe me when I say it's good stuff. Important stuff. I stopped here on my way to report to leave for the mission. Was kinda hoping you'd check in on the folks now and then?"

"Hell yeah man." Gunn agreed. "You got time to hang out today or not?"

"My flight leaves at eight tonight."

"Well lets go grab some lunch. We got most of the day. I'll take ya to the airport myself. And I promise I'll head up to see Aunt Mara and Uncle Steve this weekend. I'll take care of them for ya til you get back."

Aidan seemed to wilt with relief. Gunn got that. He couldn't quite go where ever he was going without knowing his family would be taken care of.

"So, what do you like...and we've got a lot of catchin up in the next few hours little cuz, like--AIR FORCE? Man. I can't believe that."

Aidan snorted. "Look at this office!"

Gunn grinned and put his arm around his shoulder and the two headed out. Harmony complaining as they left. Too bad. He was going to spend the day with his cousin.
